Is there any way to re grout 1 inch tile without grinding out the joints?

i have 500 sq ft of 1 inch tiles that needs to be re grouted. Whats the best way to prep for the new grout.

Nope , if you have to regrout it, it must come out. A slurry coat over it will never hold.And 300 feet of 1x1 tile is a lot. What about if you stain it? Would that be an option? There are many colors available to do this. Its a special stain for grout and will last a long time w/ minimal touch up over the years.You can go the same color or darker in one coat. Lighter colors take at least two coats GL
