Large Piece
I have a 5 inch Red Eared Slider I inherited from a friend. A LARGE piece of his shell came off?
The piece is from his side and is very thin almost transparent.... Why did this happen and what can I do to help him or her? He has a huge tank with both water and beach with a warming light and filter for the water, he eats live feeder fish and night crawlers.
Don't worry he's just shedding. That's what they do so they can grow. It sounds like you are taking very good care of your turtle, and he is healthy and growing. Just make sure the shell under the shedding is hard and seems fine, then there is nothing to worry about.
